What Dynamic Waterjet does
Flow’s Dynamic Waterjet uses controlled head movement to compensate for stream lag and taper during cutting. Stream lag describes the cutting stream trailing through the material; taper concerns the difference in the cut-wall geometry through the thickness.
This compensation is intended to improve the finished result of the programmed cut. It does not establish that every dimensional issue comes from the compensation system, or that every machine with a Dynamic head has the same installed features.
What Dynamic XD adds
Flow’s Dynamic Waterjet XD extends the Dynamic concept to bevel and three-dimensional cutting. Flow describes XD as a five-axis cutting-head option. This capability is distinct from taper and stream-lag compensation alone.
An XD service request should state whether the concern affects flat parts, bevel angles, compound features, or head motion. Include the installed accessories and controls. The head, machine configuration, program, and setup all matter when assessing an observed result.
Describe the part and the head behavior separately
A part can show an angle error, a dimensional offset, an inconsistent edge, or variation between repeated cuts. Record which features are affected and where they sit in relation to the material and machine. Separately, report any alarms, interrupted motion, height-control issues, or recent contact with a tipped part or fixture.
Use existing measurements, safe photographs of completed parts, and records from normal operation. Do not recreate a collision, command unusual head motion, or change calibration values merely to produce evidence for a service request.
Define a useful service scope
A professional assessment can consider cutting-head condition, relevant geometry and alignment, height-control behavior, applicable configuration, and the test conditions needed to evaluate the result. Findings may point toward maintenance, a machine adjustment, or a review of the cutting setup.
Before requesting calibration work, explain the measurement requirement and whether your quality system needs a particular method or report. The term calibration alone does not define the work or establish that certification is included.
- Machine and cutting-head identification, plus known accessories
- Material, thickness, program context, and whether the job is flat or beveled
- Required dimensions or angles and actual measured results
- Exact alarms and any recent collision, relocation, repair, or settings change
